Myopia is a visual anomaly responsible for poor distance vision. A myopic person can see very clearly up close, but as soon as the object they are looking at moves away from them, the image of that object, which normally forms on the retina, forms in front of it because the eye is too long.
Myopia is corrected with a diverging eyeglass lens or a diverging contact lens, which compensates for the anomaly.
The same optical effect can be achieved by flattening the center of the cornea with a laser or by any other surgical means. A concave lens (or myopic implant) can be placed inside the eye.
Currently, virtually all cases of myopia can be corrected.
